Enjoy Your Running More

How to make your running more fun

Running is a great way to get fit and stay in shape. But it can also be one of the loneliest and most boring ways too. It doesn’t have to be that way though – there are some steps you can take to make your daily run more enjoyable.

Here’s a few suggestions on how to do so…

How to make running more fun

1. Listen to your favorite music

Maybe you do this already, but if not it sure helps to pass the time and make your run more fun. You can even start singing along too! Sure you may get some funny looks from the folks you pass, but hey, who cares!

Keep in mind that some forms of music are more conducive to running performance than others. In particular, a recent study showed that reggae is the worst type of music to listen to if you’re looking for your best performance. Pop and heavy metal were the best types.

2. Change your route

Running the same route every day can soon become monotonous. So try varying the route you take. In fact, some times just head out without a plan and go where the mood takes  you. Just make sure not to get lost!

3. Get yourself a run buddy

Find a friend who’s also interested in going running. You can chat on your way round which makes it pass much quicker. There are also plenty of running clubs around these days who go out in groups and make things more sociable. Search the internet for such clubs in your area.

4. Challenge yourself

Get yourself a watch with a stopwatch on it and time yourself to various landmarks on each route you run (about 4 or 5 points). Then try and improve your times to each of these points every time you run. This will focus your attention and keep you motivated, not to mention be great for your health.

5. Run away from baddies!

This one sounds a bit silly but pretending someone is chasing you and you have to get away can help to get the adrenaline flowing. And when that starts, you’ll run better and also enjoy it more.

Coming up with ways to motivate yourself and make your runs more interesting can help greatly when it comes into getting into a running routine. Try these tips and see which onces work best for you.
